To be honest, am not much of a fan of this series. I’ve watched bits and pieces of them when they aired on TV but that was pretty much it. However when we decided on the spur of the moment to go watch a movie, Fast Five was selected. Now Fast Five as the name suggests is the 5th installment in the series and the 4th as per chronology.
So the movie begins where the fourth one ended i.e., with the escape of Dominic Toretto(Vin Diesel) and Brian(Paul Walker) and Mia(Jordana Brewster) being on the run from the law for aiding him. Somehow they make their way to Rio de Janiero and meet up with an old friend Vince. They get a job and Dom shows up to do it. Somewhere during the car heist, the plot turns into a personal vendetta against the Drug don Hernan Reyes, who runs Brazil for no apparent reason. The guys are framed for murder of DEA agents and enter Luke Hobbs(Dwayne Johnson) and his team, who try to apprehend the lot and hire Elena Neves(Elsa Pataky) as an interpreter. But as luck has it, a team is formed with cast members of the earlier movies and a plan is made to steal from Reyes as payback.
Lot of plot holes,a fist fight and a shoot out later, Hobbs also joins Dom’s team and the Vault heist is planned. Full points to the originality of the heist. The Movie ends on a positive note with the team free and Hobbs still hunting them.
A typical Hollywood masala movie which you should watch to have fun. Rating: 7/10.
P.S. Scene after credits features Hobbs, Eva Mendes’ Character and a picture of a “Ghost”. So there’s gonna be an F6.
